I created “REFU-G’s” while studying my minor creative disruptions. It’s solely built with found-footage and researches the behaviour of refugees and the countries they try to reach. The moment people started to actually migrate by foot, walking via highways, stunned me, shocked me. REFU-G’s is about similarities between differences. Artists like Aernout Mik (Groningen, 1962) and Johan Grimonprez (Roeselare, 1962) are good examples of video artists that also work a lot with found-footage.
